IGNOU launches initiative to assist long distance learning
New Delhi, June 11 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)today unveiled a new initiative in the field of long distance learning which will facilitate ''just-in-time delivery of learning resources anytime anywhere to the long distance learners''.
'eGyankosh', a major initiative of the IGNOU towards developing a national digital repository of learning resources to be shared among open and long distance learning institutions in the country, was inaugurated by D S Mathur Secretary in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
Present at the live teleconferencing session at IGNOU's electronic media production centre, were IGNOU Vice Chancellor H P Dikshit, Pro Vice Chancellor S C Garg and deputy project director of the DECU, ISRO, Vikram Desai.
In his introductory speech, Professor Dikshit highlighted the importance of eGyankosh in reaching out to the last mile learners, thus complementing one of the objectives of EDUSAT in providing video on demand.
