Gaza air strike wounds one Palestinian

GAZA, June 11 (Reuters) An Israeli missile struck near a car in the Gaza Strip today, wounding one bystander but the apparent target of the attack escaped, witnesses and medics said.

The car was badly damaged. The Israeli army confirmed it had carried out the strike.

The attack follows an upsurge in violence since the militant group Hamas called off a 16-month truce with Israel.

Earlier today an Israeli helicopter air strike killed two Palestinian militants from Hamas in Gaza after a rocket fired by members of the group seriously wounded an Israeli civilian.
