Cong, DMK meet on seat sharing inconclusive

Pondicherry, June 11 (UNI) A meeting between Congress and the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) representatives, to finalise the seat sharing for the second and third phases of civic polls, was inconclusive here today.

DMK sources alleged the Congress was reluctant to part with the seats and was demanding reconsideration of the earlier agreement of seat sharing. The stance of the Congress might lead to a break in the alliance, they warned.

It may be noted that even as the filing of nominations for the first phase came to an end yesterday, the Congress is yet to announce the candidates authorised by the party for the first phase of elections.

The Congress representatives include AICC General secretary V Narayanasamy, secretary Sudhakar Reddy, Chief Minister N Rangasamy, PCC (I) president P Shanmugham and Industries Minister V Vaithilingam. Representing the DMK, pary convenor R V Janakiraman and legislators S P Sivakumar and Dr M A S Subramanian participateed in the parleys, at the PCC (I) office here.
