Cong demands NDA govt in Jharkhand decrease Sales tax

Ranchi, Jun 11 (UNI) The Congress today asked the Arjun Munda-led NDA government in Jharkhand to follow the line of Congress-ruled states like Maharashtra and Delhi to give relief to the people of state from the central hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.

General Secretary of the state Congress Shailesh Sinha in a statement here said looking at the heavy increase in the price of crude oil in the international market and subsequent pressure on the National Oil Companines, the central government's decision to increase the prices of petrol and diesel was relevant. However, the state governments had the option of decreasing the sales tax to give some relief to the people.

Mr Sinha said the announcement of Congress governments in Maharashtra and Delhi to decrease sales tax was a welcome step and Jharkhand should also follow suit for the people's good.
