Vajpayee's comments on Rahul inappropriate: Govindacharya

Ujjain, MP, June 10 (UNI) Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's comment on late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul Mahajan drew flak from Swadeshi Jagran Manch leader Govindacharya.

Mr Govindacharya, while leaving for Indore, told reporters at the railway station here that Mr Vajpayee's statement that ''such mistakes happen in young age'' was unnecessary and inappropriate.

Pointing out that everybody was equal in the eyes of law, he said such incidents indicated a political decline.

On the future of Bharatiya Janashakti (BJ) party, Mr Govindacharya described former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti as a capable leader.

Earlier, Ms Bharti had criticised Mr Vajpayee for his comments on the Rahul Mahajan episode and said BJP workers were feeling ashamed by the statement.
