Police avert AIADMK-DMK clash

Tiruchirapalli, June 10 (UNI) Tension prevailed today at Vaiyampatti on the Tiruchirapalli-Dindigul highway, when a group of AIADMK men led by M Chinnasamy MLA staged a flash 'roadroko' demanding immediate arrest of DMK men, who had allegedly pelted stones at an open jeep of the legislator.

Police said the incident occurred when Mr Chinnasamy was touring his constituency along with his partymen.

Irked over this, Mr Chinnasamy and about hundred partymen staged a 'roadroko' agitation near the Vaiyampatti police station on the Tiruchirapalli-Dindigul highway.

On information, senior police and civil officials rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitating legislator. However, Mr Chinnasamy was firm on his stand that the police should arrest the DMK men, who indulged in the act.

Tension prevailed in the area, when DMK and AIADMK men assembled.

However, the police managed to control the situation and disperse the agitators peacefully.
