Udupi, June 10 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will come out with a new industrial policy within a week's time, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa disclosed today.

Addressing a BJP party workers meeting here, he said the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government in the State aimed at enabling setting up of industries in other major cities, rather than concentrating it only in the State Capital. The new policy would create a conducive atmosphere for setting up industries, including Small Scale ones, in other parts of the State, he added.

Mr Yediyurappa, who also holds the Finance Portfolio, urged Water Resources Minister K S Eshwarappa to speed up all pending irrigation projects in the State. ''The Finance Ministry will not hesitate to provide an additional Rs 500 crore for this purpose,'' he added.

He said that to ease traffic congestion in Mangalore city, he had asked the Konkan Railway Corporation to take up a survey for introducing Mono Rail. If it was found feasible, the Government would take up the project, he added.
