Muslim religious scholars asks to fight terrorism

New Delhi, June 10 : Participants at an all India education conference have called upon Muslims in the country to fight terrorism and communalism.

In Islam there was no room for communalism or terrorism. Islam was a religion of love and humanity, participating Muslim scholars said in a statement here.

''Islam does not permit killing of an innocent person,'' they added.

The conference, organised by All India Minority Education Society, was also attended by various Congress leaders besides BSP MP Raashid Alvi and thousands of Madarsa education activists from across the country.

Mr Alvi said madarsa education ought to be modernised so that the students could serve the country and earn their bread and butter.

Islamic scholar Asrar-ul-Haque also stressed on the need for modern education along with religious education.
