Shahajahanpur, June 10 (UNI) Claiming that Uttar Pradesh government had won accolades from the Planning Commission (PC) and World Bank (WB) for developmental works, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today came down heavily on opposition parties for undermining his regime's achievements.

''It is an irony that all development works being acknowledged by the PC and WB are not seen by my political detractors,'' he said while laying the foundation stone of a Rs 43 crore bridge in Kolaghat in the district.

Announcing a slew of development projects, the Chief Minister came down heavily on the Congress and the opposition parties in UP for maligning the image of his government. ''They are conveniently ignoring the positive works in UP and painting a wrong picture about my governance.'' ''Never before in UP, the problems of all sections comprising farmers, labourers and members of weaker sections were addressed with impunity and urgency,'' Mr Yadav claimed adding, ''The people of UP will give a befitting reply to these elements in the next elections.'' He said a lot had been said about poor power situation in UP, but the long-term policies of his government would be remembered by people. ''The biggest gas-based power project of the world in Dadri, Ghaziabad and the other power plant in Roza will solve all the power problems in the state.'' UNI SB VS BST1919
