Congress holds state government responsible for waterlogging
Patna, Jun 09 (UNI) The Bihar Congress today squarely blamed state government for waterlogging in low-lying areas of the state capital which had created flood like situation bringing hardship to the residents here.
Chief spokesman of the state congress, Prem Chandra Mishra accused that state government was not prepared to face the situation which was likely to arise during the monsoon session.
He alleged that instead of doing ground work to solve the problems being faced by the people, the NDA government of Bihar was only engaged in making lofty announcements.
Mr Mishra described it as 'unfortunate' that Urban Development Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey visited the low-lying areas of Patna and passed the buck on the bureaucrats for the sorry state of affairs.
Mr Choubey should have taken the stock of the preparedness before the onset of the monsoon and ensured that all arrangements were made to make the state capital free from waterlogging, he added.
He alleged that the Minister concerned was only making false claims over the issue before the onset of the monsoon but the first downpour of the season had rendered all such claims 'hollow'.
