WUERZBURG, Germany, June 10 (Reuters) Tunisia are waiting to find out whether their leading striker Francileudo dos Santos will play any part in the World Cup as he still struggles with a shin injury.

Tunisia said on their website that dos Santos, who is set to miss the opening Group H game against Saudi Arabia, had been to a specialist facility in Nuremberg with team doctor Hamed Kammoun to ascertain how long his recovery would take and would return tomorrow for a second check-up.

Kammoun is due to give a brief news conference tomorrow afternoon.

Midfielder Mehdi Nafti said on Thursday that the players had been told dos Santos was definitely out of Tunisia's opening game on Wednesday and possibly the second game against Spain on June 19 as well.

The Brazilian-born 27-year-old has scored 18 goals in 28 matches for Tunisia since switching allegiance at the start of 2004, including one in the 2004 African Nations Cup final win over Morocco and six in World Cup qualifying.

He pulled up injured during his side's final World Cup friendly against a local German select side on Wednesday. Coach Roger Lemerre said Santos had aggravated a minor injury he had been carrying for some time.

Forward Issam Jemaa, 22, had already withdrawn from the squad with a knee injury and been replaced by 21-year-old Chouki Ben Saada.

Tunisia face Ukraine in their final group match on June 23.
