API, 21 others nabbed in connection with murder case

Kolhapur, June 10 (UNI) An Assistant Police Inspector (API) along with 21 others were arrested in connection with a murder case at Hupari in Hatkanangale tehsil of this district.

Police sources said the API, identified as Rashiklal Gujar alias Balasaheb and his supporters yesterday attacked on one Sunil Hazare with swords, iron rods and sticks in which Hazare was seriously injured and was rushed to the civil hospital here, where he succumbed to injuries.

Gujar, attached to Vishrambag police station in Sangli, has been residing in Shivajinagar area of Hupari near the deceased's house, police sources said and added the cause of the crime was not yet ascertained.

Gujar, among 18 from the total, was remanded to eight days police custody by the Ichalkaranji court, when they were produced before the court later in the day, while four others were sent to remand home.

Hazare was the ex-vice-president of the Hatakanangale tehsil NCP unit.
