Skydiving is child's play to him
Hyderabad, June 9 (UNI) He is the only Indian to perform a night skydiving jump from a Micro Light Aircraft and with over 1200 jumps and five diving records, Wing Commander M I K Reddy has been a prominent entry in the record books.
Wing Commander Reddy, who is also Chief Administrative Officer of Airforce Station Hakimpet here and the leader of Akash Ganga team of 10 PARA, displayed his spectacular skills today at an exhibition to mark the 200th anniversary Secunderabad city.
Hailing from Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh Wg Cdr Reddy had been in the sport for the last 17 years. He performed the highest skydiving jump from a hot air ballon, and executed the first-ever skydiving free fall with National Flag from 15,000 feet.
He also has to his credit the highest number of free fall jumps amongst sports skydivers.
Wg Cdr Reddy is the only sports parachutist, who has performed both at the Northern-most inhabited place of India(Thoise) and the Southern-most tip of India (Indira Point). He led a 73 member team to a National record jump on October 2, 2005.
He had given a new dimension to skydivinvg by performing the first-ever planned skydiving jump into water at Allappuzha in Kerala.
He is the first sports parachutist jump master in India and one of the only two Indians, who had jumped from an inverted bi-plane.
Wg Cdr Reddy had also conducted more than 150 sky diving shows.
