Six people affected by Anthrax in Karnataka
Mysore, June 9 (UNI) Six people were suspected to have been affected by Anthrax in Devagalli Village in Hunsur taluk in Mysore District of Karnataka, Minister for Health and Family Welfare R Ashok said today.
Announcing formation of a Committee to monitor the situation on day to day basis, the minister told newsmen here that nearly 180 people, who ate dead cattle meat developed blisters on their hand and feet and six of them suspected with Anthrax. All the affected were being treated by the Doctors.
The Department has taken precautionary measures, including vaccination of cattle, to prevent spread of the disease. A team of Doctors vaccinating the cattle in and around 10 villages of Devagalli and instructions were given not to transfer the cattle from the village.
Mr Ashok said that the Committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner S Selva Kumar, would monitor on day to day basis and take immediate steps to contain spread of the disease.
