Seats to be increased in phased manner: Ramadoss

Kolkata, June 9 (UNI) Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Anbumani Ramadoss today said reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutes will be in accordance to the provisions of the Constitution.

When all the political parties have agreed to it, there is no reason why the government should retreat, Mr Ramadoss said.

''Seats of the medical institutes will be increased in a phased manner throughout the country in two to three years,'' he said.

Medical students across the country had staged protests against the Centre for its recommendation to reserve 27.5 per cent seats for other backward classes in higher educational institutes.
