Rajkot MP allocates Rs 10 lakh for tree plantion

Rajkot, June 9 (UNI) The forest department has set up ten nurseries in the district to distribute various types of saplings to societies, cooperative sectors, government organisations, civic bodies to intensify the tree plantion drive.

Addressing mediapersons yesterday, Rajkot Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Vallabhbhai Kathiriya said 83,000 sapling would be provided to various organisations free of cost to speed up the plantation campaign.

The organisations would be provided maximum 300 saplings free of cost from the nearest nursery centre after getting approval letter from his office, he said.

Rajkot MP has allocated Rs 10 lakh to the forest department for the tree plantation under the MP's grant as part of 'Van Mahotsav' to create awareness among the masses about the importance of the tree plantation for enviornement, he said.

Forestation on the waste land of govenment, society's common plot, schools and colleges compounds would be taken up in a big way to beautify the area, he said.

He called upon the people to come forward in the plantation drive to meet the objective of green revolution.
