Patna, June 9 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that drainage and sewerage system of Patna would be modernised with the application of latest technology to free the state capital from the perennial problem of water logging.

After visiting different inundated areas here, Mr Kumar said polythene was the biggest cause of the blockage of the drainge rendering all the sewerage system useless. He said encroachment of the land besides the drains also contributed to the choking of the soiled water.

He said incessant rains for the past 48 hours had created a challenge for the authorities to clear the inundated areas from the monsoon water. He also directed the authorities to make arrangements for pumping out the monsoon water from the low lying areas on war footing.
