Itanagar, Jun 9 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh government is contemplating to improve the structures of all schools and health units in the state besides improving the dilapidated roads under a massive infrastructure development programme, Finance and Planning Minister Kalikho Pul said.

In a departure from the past, an amount of Rs 100 crore has been earmarked for service sectors like health, education and road connectivity to make developmental activities visible in 60 constituencies without any discrimination, the minister said.

Referring to the initiatives by Chief Minister Gegong Apang for giving a new thrust to the planning process in the state, the finance minister informed that the funds under special planning assistance (SPA) given as additional central assistance would be utilized for need-based time-bound schemes as announced by him during the last budget session on March 24.

''The state government is committed to expand road networks, provide buildings to schools and health centers during the current fiscal to benefit the masses'', he explained.

Spelling out a four-pronged strategy to put health, education, social sector, agri and horticulture sectors on priority agenda by taking up need-based projects to achieve tangible development, the finance minister told the assembly during the last budget session that transport, tourism, mining and tax collection would also get equal priority for enhancing the revenue collection so that the state government could spend more funds for development under non-plan heads.
