Left MPs to visit Palestine; express solidarity
Hyderabad, Jun 9: Accusing the UPA Government of not condemning the stance of the United States and European Union on Israel cutting off funds to Palestine after Hamas formed the Government, CPI(M) Central Committee today said a delegation of Left party MPs would visit Palestine soon to study the situation and express solidarity with Palestinian people.
The party's Central Committee strongly condemned the stand of the US and its allies in cutting off funds to Palestinian authorities, party Politbureau member Sitaram Yechuri told the media while briefing them on the Committee.
Not satisfied with the ''token contribution'' for Palestine by the UPA Government, the Central Committee now in session here urged the Manmohan Singh Government to take the lead in building public opinion against Israel which had stopped giving 50 million dollars collected per month which was due to Palestine.
Denying the charge that the Left parties were communalising even the foreign policy, he claimed that it was US President George W Bush who was communalising his country's foreign policy. The question of human liberty was involved whether it was in Palestine or Iran, he added.
