Heavy rain claims one life, building collapses in Bihar

Patna, June 9 (UNI) Incessant rain claimed the life of a young girl when she drowned in a submerged manhole at Rajendra Nagar in Patna, while a multi storeyed apartment crumbled on Boring canal road here last night.

Police Superintendent (City) Vikash Vaibhav told UNI that nobody was injured in the building collapse as all families living in the apartment ran to the open field.

He said a possible disaster was averted since a police officer residing in the apartment raised an alarm.

He attributed the collapse of the apartment to an engineering fault.

Raids were being conducted to nab the contractor Anil Sharma who constructed the building, he added.
