Haryana puts bio-fertilisers in essential commodities

Chandigarh, June 9 (UNI) Bio-fertilisers and organic fertilisers have been included in the essential commodity list in Haryana and their manufacture, stock and sale in the state will be regulated as per the Fertiliser (Control) Order, 1985.

Haryana Agriculture Department Director R K Khullar today said bio-fertilisers like Rhizobium, Azotobacter, Azospirillum, Phosphate Solubilising Bacteria have been included in the Fertiliser (Control) Order, 1985, an enactment under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

The organic fertilisers included in the list wereCity Compost, Vermi Compost and Pressmud.

He said standards of these bio-fertilisers and organic fertilisers along with their tolerance limit had been specified in the Fertiliser (Control) Order. Separate methods of sampling and analysis had also been provided, he added.

The sale of bio-fertilisers or organic fertilisers, which were not of the prescribed standards, would not be allowed in the state.

The sale of bio-products other than the above named products would be permitted if CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar recommended the use of the products on the basis of bio-efficacy test, Mr Khullar said.
