Etihad Airways adds 5 new destinations

Mumbai, Jun 9 (UNI) Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), announced services to Doha from June 18, Kuwait (July 1) and Khartoum (July 5).

An Etihad release here today said that from June 18, the airlines will start operating six flights every week to Doha, the Qatari capital, which has earmarked US 15 billion dollars for the development of tourism, hospitality projects and sports events.

The airways will from July 1 operate six flights a week between Abu Dhabi and Kuwait, which is a popular route for both intra-regional and global business travellers.

The new route will also increase the capabilities of Etihad Crystal Cargo, to carry a maximum of 20 tonnes of cargo on each flight.

The release said the thrice weekly service between Abu Dhabi and the Sudanese capital of Khartoum will commence its operations from July 5. The service will also complement the current Etihad Crystal Cargo freighter operations between Abu Dhabi and Khartoum. The announcement of service was warmly welcomed by more than 40,000 Sudanese living, studying and working in the UAE.

The airlways had recently started its services to Jeddah from May 28 and Casablanca from June ).

With the launch of these new services, Etihad Airways have added 14 new destinations to their network in just five months.

The airlines, which won ''The World's Leading New Airline'' award twice, will now offer flights to guests and cargo to a total of more than 34 destinations across the West Asia Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.

Jeddah is Etihad's third destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, complementing existing flights to Riyadh and Dammam, offering more seats and more choice to over two million pilgrims who travel through Jeddah to take part in the important religious festival during the annual Hajj season.

On June 2, Etihad Airways commenced four flights a week between Abu Dhabi and Casablanca, becoming the only airline to offer direct, non-stop flights from the capital of UAE to the Moroccan City, the release said.
