Samui, June 9 (UNI) S S P Chowrasia led the Indian challenge at the half-way mark after carding an even par round for a tied 16th position as seven Indians made the cut after round two of the Bangkok Airways Open here today.

With a total of two over 144, Chowrasia is eight shots off the leader Lu Wen Teh of Taiwan.

But the pick of pack was Digvijay Singh who carded a superb four under 67 -- day's best -- to leapfrog 79 places to tied 41st position on a windy day when a level par finish seemed a luxury.

Putting behind yesterday's horrendous 10 over 81, Digvijay played a neat bogey-free round studded with four birdies.

That it was going to be his day became clear when he gained a stroke at the very first hole and went on to hit back-to-back birdies on sixth and seventh hole. He was cautious on his way back but signed off in style with another birdie.

Fellow Gaurav Ghei returned a poor four over 75 card to drop down to tied 25th from yesterday's tied ninth with four over 146 in aggregate.

Uttam Singh Mundy, with a one over 72 second round and eight over in aggregate, shared the tied 41st place with, among others, Digvijay.

Amritender Singh carded a second successive four over 75 round but still climbed to tied 52nd spot while Amandeep Johl and Jaiveer Virk barely made the cut and at tied 59th were lying at the bottom of the basket.

Three Indians -- Arjun Singh, Gurbaaz Mann and Harmeet Kahlon -- fell by the wayside while Harinder Gupta withdrew after playing six holes.
