H D Deve Gowda calls on Karnataka Governor
Bangalore, Jun 9: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda today called on Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi and was with him for over an hour.
The party sources termed it as courtesy call. Mr Gowda drove away after the meeting without talking to the waiting newsmen.
The Meeting assumed significance since Mr Gowda was waging war against the controversial Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMIC). He reportedly discussed with the Governor about the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises, which was entrusted the BMIC project and the State government contemplating to bring in a legislation to takeover the alleged excess land acquired from the project developer.
The former Prime Minister had said that he will not stop his war against the Project to protect the interests of farmers who have lost their lands. He had also written letter to Karnataka governor on the issue in the past registering his protest against the project.
