Deve Gowda calls on Karnataka Governor
Bangalore, June 9 (UNI) Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda today called on Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi and was with him for over an hour.
Mr Gowda drove away after the meeting without talking to the waiting newsmen.
The meeting assumed significance since Mr Gowda was protesting against the controversial Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMIC). He reportedly discussed with the Governor about the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises, which was entrusted to the BMIC project and the State government contemplating to bring in a legislation to takeover the alleged excess land acquired by the project developer.
The former Prime Minister said he will not stop his war against the Project to protect the interests of farmers who have lost their lands. He has also written a letter to the Karnataka governor on the issue in the past registering his protest against the project.
