Cong takes credit for Saral form being retained

New Delhi, June 9 (UNI) The Congress today took the credit for withdrawal of the proposal by the Income Tax Department to go in for a complicated four-page IT return form and retain the Saral form with all its simplicity.

"It was at our suggestion and initiative that the Government maintained the simplicity of the Saral form viewing carefully our suggestion,"Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi claimed.

The party had pleaded that the essence of the Saral form be retained and the return be kept as simple as possible ,he said.

It was the Congress which had raised in public interest the issue of the Saral IT form being made complicated looking to the inconvenience it was likely to cause to the tax assessees, Mr Singhvi told reporters here, adding "this is a victory of the aam admi(common man)." It was always the party which raised issues of public importance and gave inmputs to the Government. It was the Government which acted on those suggestions and took any decision in public interest,he said.
