New Delhi, June 9(UNI) The Congress today expressed hope that the government would take a positive view of the party's suggestions reducing the petrol price hike and indicated it might be done soon.

"We have left the decision to the government and are in constant touch with them, " Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.

"We hope our positive suggestions will be implemented and we will succeed in having the price hike reduced." If we do not raise the issues of public concern before the Government, we will be failing in performing our role," Mr Singhvi told reporters here.

"We have given a positive suggestion on behalf of the common man which would be viewed positively by the government, "Mr Singhvi said adding that the matter had been taken up at various levels in the government and the party hoped that something good would come out of it.

Asked when the partial rollback was expected, he said "Wait until June 13 or 14." However, the party spokesman said the government had its own compulsions for resisting the demand for a partial rollback and it was bound by the international oil price situation. "The Government is watching the situation," he added.
