Hyderabad, June 9 (UNI) The CPI(M) Central Committee today urged the UPA Government to bring in legislations to provide 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in Central educational institutions and to regulate admissions and fee structure in private higher educational institutions.

Speaking to newspersons, after attending the Central Committee sessions, politburo member Sitaram Yechuri said the Centre should increase the number of seats and also allocate seats to poor sections, who did not come under reservation category.

He said Supreme Court guidelines on excluding creamy layer should be maintained while implementing the reservation for OBCs.

He said the Central Committee felt that unless admissions and fee structure in private higher educational institutions and professional colleges were regulated, a large number of students belonging to all communities would be deprived of their legitimate right to education because of the exorbitant fees.
