BJP dangerously meddling in J
Srinagar, June 9 (UNI) CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today lashed out at the BJP for ''dangerously meddling in the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir and trying to communalise the situation for partisan interests''.
''The BJP has lost its mass base in the country which caused frustration among its cadres thereby trying to communalise the situation in Jammu and Kashmir for partisan interests,'' Mr Tarigami said in a statement from Hyderabad.
''Out of desperation, the BJP has started meddling in the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir dangerously,'' he said while reacting strongly to the party's satyagarha in the Jammu region.
The Jammu and Kashmir CPI(M) Secretary said such ''intrusive'' methods would not be tolerated at all by the people of the Jammu region as they had stood firm on the principles of brotherhood and religious tolerance during tested times in the past.
He asserted that every form of violence was condemnable and the perpetrators were the enemies of secular ethos and would be isolated by the people committed to secular democracy.
Mr Tarigami said the divisive forces in both Jammu and Kashmir regions made the people bleed for past so many years and tried to destroy the social fabric of the state.
However, the brave people, especially of the Jammu region, joined hands to thwart the designs and never indulged in communal clashes, he added.
Mr Tarigami said at this crucial juncture when the political leadership of the sub-continent was all set to resolve the tensions, priority should have been to encourage the dialogue process and mitigate the sufferings of the common masses.
''But, unfortunately the BJP and its allies are trying to give communal twist to the situation which is likely to cause damage to the reconciliation process,'' he added.
The CPI(M) leader made a fervent appeal to the people of the Jammu region to stand firm and united against such forces and maintain the communal harmony.
