AP CM lauds Tribunal's judgement
Hyderabad, Jun 9 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today expressed happiness over the judgement of the Krishna Water Tribunal that declined to grant an interim relief on the applications filed by Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Maharashtra and Karnataka sought tribunal's intervention in restraining the lower riparian state of Andhra Pradesh from going ahead with the construction of 11 projects in the Krishna and Godavari basins.
Talking to newspersons here, Dr Reddy said the tribunal's judgement would protect the interests of the State by allowing the construction of the projects on Krishna river without any delay.
He said the three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Brijesh Kumar, while disallowing the petitions of Maharashtra and Karnataka regarding the inter-state dispute concerning the Krishna River Valley, said the tribunal was not inclined to grant interim relief prayed by the two States.
