Hubli, June 9 (UNI) The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today demanded that the Karnataka Government immediately cancel the common entrance tests (CET) conducted by both COMED-K and Karnataka Religious and Linguistic Minority Private Colleges Association and avoid confusion among the students.

Addressing a press conference here, ABVP State Vice-President M Nagaraja said the State Government should initiate discussions with representative of students, parents and private managements to solve the problem.

He wanted the State Government to do away with the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions Act, 2006, which was ''illogical and impracticable'', and arrive at a consensus to protect the interests of SC/ST, OBC and poor meritorious students.

''ABVP will launch an agitation if the State Government is unable to arrive at a consensus and solve the problem latest by June 15.

The details of the future course of action will be discussed at the three-day ABVP State Executive Committee meeting, scheduled in Mandya from tomorrow,'' he said.
