SAIL praised for full capacity utilisation by MPs panel

New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) Public sector undertaking Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has received praise from the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Steel for achieving full capacity utilisation in 2005-06.

Appreciating the PSU's performance despite the stiff competition from private sector steel players and volatile international market conditions, the committee noted it was a satisfactory improvement over the year 2004-05.

Bhilai steel plant's performance was singled out for mention by the Members of Parliament (MPs) for producing at 120 per cent of its capacity in crude and saleable steel categories this year.

In comparison, the Bokaro and Rourkela steel plants will be operating between 80 and 90 per cent of their capacity during this period.
