Rs 74 crore seized in IT raid

Kolkata, Jun 08 (UNI) Income Tax officials seized assets worth more than Rs 91 lakh, including Rs 74 lakh in cash, during separate search operations against two groups at Siliguri in Darjeeling district yesterday.

Official reports today said the groups were engaged in running nursing homes, diagnosict centres and real estate business. One of the persons in the groups was in medical profession.

During the search and seizure operation, the IT officials recovered incriminating books of accounts that showed evidence of unaccounted investment in real estatates, jewelleries, FDRs and mutual funds. One kg of gold bar had also been seized from the residence of one of the members of the groups, the reports said.
