Railway engineer's green thumb
Sagar, MP, June 8 (UNI) Though he was trained in a rather different discipline, K C Chouhan proved that he has a green thumb as the section engineer posted at the West Central Railway's Bina Junction not only planted thousands of saplings over the past 15 years but also toiled on a five-acre nursery.
At every posting, he made colonies, station premises and Railway land greener.
''During my service, I received afforestation directives and my interest was whetted,'' he told UNI.
Narrating that the Bina railway yard was lying useless, the engineer said iron and stones were shifted out before making the five acres fertile.
''As many as 12,000 saplings were planted. Over the past three years, two lakh saplings were prepared and 1.5 lakh sent to the Bhopal Division last year. The nursery earned praise from higher-ups,'' said Mr Chouhan who has been awarded for his efforts.
Bina Junction, along the Bhopal-Delhi trunk route, is 75 km from here.
