Mercury rises to 41.4 Degree C
New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) It was another sultry day in the capital today as the mercury rose further to 41.4 Degree C while the weather office predicted further rise to 42 Degree C for tomorrow.
A mainly clear sky and bright sunlight, coupled with a high humidity of 37 per cent, led to acute perspiration, indicating a return to extreme sultry conditions, after three days of pleasant weather over the weekend, which saw cool South Easterly winds and a heavily overcast sky plummet the mercury to eight to ten degrees below normal.
It is the fourth consecutive day that the mercury has witnessed a rising trend.
Wathermen said the rise in mercury is largely an offshoot of the decreasing influence of the upper air cyclonic movement which lead to a heavy overcast sky and light rains over the weekend.
They say that the coming days are likely to witness a further rise in mercury.
The weather office has forecast a mainly clear sky with dust or haze during the next 24 hours.
