Jaya to lead AIADMK, allies protest on Jun 12

Chennai, Jun 8 : All India Anna DMK (AIADMK) General Secretary and former chief minister J Jayalalithaa would lead a state-wide protest demonstration here on June 12 to condemn the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre for blatantly hiking the prices of petrol and diesel and demand the rollback.

Announcing AIADMK supremo's participation in the agitation, a release from the party headquarters here said leaders of the allies, including MDMK General Secretary Vaiko and DPI General Secretary Thol Thirumavalavan would also take part in the stir along with Ms Jayalalithaa in the city.

The protest demonstration would be jointly organised by the AIADMK and its allies including the MDMK, DPI, INTUC, Indian National League, IUML and Moovendar Munnetra Kazhagam in front of the Central and State Government offices.

Besides Tamil Nadu, the agitation would also be held on behalf of the AIADMK and its allies in Pondicherry, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi on June 12, the release added.

Former assembly speaker K Kalimuthu, AIADMK treasurer Dindigul S Srinivasan, former Minister O Panneerselvam and senior leaders Visalakshi Nedunchezhiyan and Sulochana Sampath would lead the agitaion in Madurai, Kerala, Theni, Tiruvallur and Namakkal respectively, the release said.

Party Propoganda secretary O S Manian would lead the agitation at Mumbai in Maharashtra, former Ministers E Madhusoodanan and Vijayalakshmi Palanisamy in Pondicherry and Bangalore respectively, Minority wing secretary E A Liaudhin Sait in Andhra Pradesh and MP and party Whip K Malaisamy in Delhi, the release added.
