Charas recovered, one arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 8 : Close on the heels of arrest of Sahil Zaroo in connection with the Rahul Mahajan drug case, the Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 4.5 kg of high quality charas in the downtown city.

A senior police officer said that on a tip-off that one Nazir Ahmad, a smuggler, had stored some charas in his house at Sheikh coloney Kathidarwaza in the downtown city, police personnel in disguise kept a close watch on the house.

It was only after confirming that charas was stored in the house, a magistrate was taken there and four kg and five hundred grams of charas was recovered.

He said Nazir was also taken into custody. The accused was supplying drugs to youths in the downtown city.

Nazir was the first smuggler arrested by the police in the city after Sahil Zaroo, also from the downtown, surrendered before the police in the Mahajan case.
