Tirupati, June 8(UNI)Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation(APRTC) today introduced 12 metres long buses, including two air-conditioned in the Tirupati region this fiscal year.

Talking to UNI here, APSRTC Regional Manager S Dharma Reddy said the occupancy ratio has gone up by two per cent from 72 per cent last year. Mr Reddy said in 2004-05, the region incurred a loss of Rs one crore, but by April this year it earned a profit of Rs three crore.

The reduction in the motor vehicle tax from 12.5 per cent to seven per cent has helped the region to save Rs seven crore, he added.
