Animal Welfare Board reconstituted
Chennai, June 8 (UNI) The Centre has reconstituted the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) by nominating distinguished veterinarian R M Kharb as its Chairman.
Gen Kharb, who had over four decades of professional excellence behind him, was commissioned in Remount&Veterinary Corps (RVC) on November one, 1962 and retired as Director General, RVC on May 31, 2000, an AWBI release here said.
He had rendered 38 years of distinguished service in the Army and was decorated with 'Ati Vishist Seva Medal' by the President on January 26, 1996.
Prof V N Appaji Rao, who had served in various capacities in the fields of teaching and research in Veterinary preventive medicine for about 30 years, has been nominated as the vice-chairman of AWBI.
The Centre had also nominated as Board members well-known professionals, humanitarians and animal activists, besides Parliamentarians Ms Maneka Gandhi, Jaswant Singh Bishnoi, Rabindra Kumar Rana, Bijendra Singh, Narayan Singh Manaklao, Jesudas Saleem, the release added.
