Trucks stranded on highway due to highway blockade

Imphal, Jun 7 (UNI) The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) began an economic blockade since last midnight demanding only local candidates be selected for the schools.

Earlier also the organisation had called an economic blockade on the same issue but was called off after the government's assurance of fulfilling their demands.

The state government has appointed teachers on adhoc basis for the hill districts.

Police said several trucks were left stranded at the Manipur Nagaland border on National Highway 39 though normal traffic remained unaffected.
