Top HM commander killed, one surrender in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jun 7 (UNI) A top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) was killed while one ultra surrendered in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said.
They said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police conducted a search operation at Bijbehara in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night following information that some militants were holding a meeting there.
However, when the security forces were sealing the area, militants attacked them with automatic weapons and also hurled grenades. Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce clash a self-styled Divisional Commander of HM Mushtaq Ahmad Wani alias Khalid was killed.
One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant, wanted in several militancy-related incidents.
They said a militant Parvez Ahmad surrendered along with arms and ammunition at Sopore in Baramulla district last night.
