Three arrested in rape case

Akola, June 7 (UNI) Three persons including a young married woman, have been arrested and remanded to police custody till June 9 for abducting and raping a 17-year-old girl from Naigaon, on the outskirts of the city, police said here today.

The accused, who have been identified as Bharat Shyamrao Athwale (25) and Pravin Deepak Khade (23) had kidnapped the 17-year-old girl from Naigaon and gang-raped her on the night of June 4, while another accused Kalpana Bandu Ingle (25) was an accomplice in the crime, police said.

The police took cognisance of the incident on the basis of the complaint filed by Anjana Kailas Khandare, a resident of Kailas Tekdi.

The accused Athwale also, a resident of Kailas Tekdi was first arrested on June 5. Later other accused Khade and Ingle were arrested yesterday, police said.

The accused have been arrested u/s 363, 366 A and 376 G of the IPC.

They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class yesterday, which remanded the trio to police custody till June 9.
