Students organisation demands reduction in school fees
Imphal, Jun 7 (UNI) The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded reduction in fees taken by private educational institutes.
The DESAM said some schools were taking huge amounts of fees from the poor students. Even huge amounts were taken for prospectus.
There was a strong move to commercialise education, it said.
The rate of prospectus should not be more than Rs 50 it suggested.
It said the weaker sections were not able to meet the demands of the private educational institutes.
Most schools provide schools bags, dresses, books, exercise books at exorbitant rates and the poor cannot afford it.
