Rs 250 cr sugarmill being set up in Basti
Basti, UP, Jun 7 (UNI) Pratappur Sugar and Industries Limited (PSIL) is setting up a sugarmill in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh with a capital investment of Rs 250 crore.
The unit -- to be completed by 2008 -- will be set up at Saraiya village in Haraiyya tehsil.
Talking to newspersons here today, PSIL Director Ishwar Dayal Mittal claimed it would provide employment to 11,000 people.
PSIL has already procured 100 acres land for the sugarmill.
''The main aim of the mill is to bring about prosperity in the lives of farmers by augmenting sugarcane production in the area,'' he added.
The mill will have sugarcane crushing capacity of 20,000 quintals per day, Mr Mittal claimed.
A power plant, an ethanol plant and a distillery will also be established here in phases, with a capital outlay of Rs 800 crore.
