Maran takes dig at anti-reservation student agitators
Bangalore, June 7 (UNI) Union Communication and Information Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran today took a dig at the students agitating against the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions, stating that they opposed the rise in intake only after managing to get seats in the premier institutes.
''These students want more seats and more IITs and other institutions of higher education to be set up, until they manage to get a seat in them. But once they enter the premier institutes, they don't want even a single seat to be increased,'' he said, speaking at the India ITeS-BPO Strategy Summit 2006 here.
Calling for a broadminded approach, the Minister called upon the students to help the Government bring in a new revolution in higher education and make it accessible to all sections of the society.
