Kala Akademi awards conferred on renowned artists

Imphal, Jun 7 (UNI) The Manipur State Kala Akademi has honoured 31 renowed artists for the year 2004 and 2005.

A grand function was held last night at the JN Manipur Dance Academy auditorium with Governor Dr S S Sidhu as the Chief Guest.

Those honoured included eminent personalities in the field of dance, culture, literature, fine arts and traditional culture.

The Governor said ''we should admire the cultural traditions of the people and study it properly.'' Ph Parijat, Minister arts and culture said local artists will be encouraged to interact with other personalities in the field of arts and culture.
