Haryana Vigilance probes hafed wheat scam
Karnal, June 7 (UNI) The onging probe by the Haryana Vigilance Bureau (VB) has revealed wheat worth Rs 7.94 crores has been either missing or destroyed by rains from hafed godowns, a state cooperative service in the state.
Vigilance Bureau S P Hisar, Satya Prakash Ranga today said 41,833 quintals wheat was found missing from Karnal, 31,513 quintals from Kaithal, 1265 quintals from Rewari, 10,711 quintals from Jind, 3,787 quintals from Faridabad and 1,922 quintals from Panipat. Small quantities of the grains were also found missing in Sirsa and Fatehabad distrits, he added.
He said the Vigilance was trying to establish corroborative links between the buyers and the supplies and arrests would follow afterwards. He did not rule out the involvement of hafed's top rung in the scam.
The probe has so far indicted 42 officials of the hafed, including the District Managers and Field Officers, who could have been involved in the scam.
