Gunmen kill three more students in Iraq

MOSUL, Iraq, June 7 (Reuters) Gunmen shot dead three university students in the northern city of Mosul today, police sources said.

The sources said gunmen stepped out of their car and opened fire on the students in a market near an off-campus Mosul University dormitory.

The violence was apparently part of a spate of attacks against Iraqi students.

On Monday, gunmen opened fire on a bus and killed at least 11 college students in Baghdad. One day earlier, gunmen dragged 24 people, mostly students, out of their cars and shot them dead in Diyala Province northeast of Baghdad.

It is not clear why students are being killed but an insurgency and sectarian violence are claiming a wider range of victims every month.
