Govt. takes step to present Marad report before Assembly

Kochi, June 7 (UNI) The Kerala Government today submitted before the High Court that it was taking steps to table the Marad judicial enquiry report before the State Assembly.

In a statement filed, the Government said under the provisions of the Commission of Enquiry Act, it has six months time to take further action on the report.

The Government received the report on February 20 last, and six months time will expire only on August 20.

It further stated that the findings of the Commission were only recommendatory in nature and it was for the Government to decide as what action should be taken on them.

On the basis of the statement, A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice P R Raman disposed of a writ petition filed by the Peoples Council for Natural Justice by observing that the petitioner could move the Court again at appropriate time.
