Gang rape case takes new turn
Khargone (MP), June 7: In a new twist to the allegations of gang rape and conversion here, police said the rape complaint by two Chiristian women was lodged two days after a case of conversion was registered against seven persons, two of whom were husbands of the rape victims.
Khargone Superintendent of Police R L Borna said investigations in both the cases were underway and no arrest had been made thus far.
He said on May 29, police received information that some people from Maharashtra were carrying out conversion in a nearby village.
Police reached the village on May 31 and prima facie, the case appeared to be that of conversion. Cases were registered against seven persons.
Mr Borna said two days later, two Christian women lodged a gangrape complaint naming few Hindu activists.
Significantly, conversion-related cases had been registered against the husbands of the rape victims earlier.
The SP said DNA tests would be conducted if required.
